The Producer Nelson Garcia

Honduras. Nelson Garcia. Catuai. Honey

Laurel x EduCAFE Project is the vision of two young entrepreneurs, Giovanni Laurett and Naun Fernández, who set out with an ambitious goal: to give visibility to small coffee producers and highlight their dedication to crafting microlots of specialty coffee. The name Laurel pays homage to a native plant symbolizing triumph and perseverance—values at the heart of this initiative.

This honey-processed Catuai micro-lot is our first espresso in the ‘Single Origen’ category. We decided to give it the spotlight, not just for its incredible profile but for the story behind it. At Edu Cafe, our friend Giovanni always wants to highlight the decisions that these small farmers, like Nelson, make to pursue a family passion that goes back generations. At 18 years of age Nelson inherited a plot of land and began to increase it’s quality, but in 2024, Nelson made the difficult decision to emigrate—seeking to earn funds that would allow him to reinvest in his farm. Meanwhile, his brother and mother remain on their land, overseeing production deep in the mountains of Peña Blanca.

This latest addition to our ‘Single Origen’ category highlights three generations of the Garcia family and the reality that these farmers face. We're honoured to help give visibility to these small farmers and to the fantastic work that our friend Giovanni has accomplished through Edu Cafe, by sharing these stories with the aim of the betterment of the coffee families.

  • Exceptional Coffees, Unmatched on Their Own

During our roasting journey, striving for excellence and crafting our unique creations, we’ve come to appreciate that some coffees simply don’t need a partner. Certain coffees stand out on their own, meeting every standard and delivering a complete experience.

Throughout this journey, we’ve encountered coffees so exceptional that finding a coffee to complement them was nearly impossible. These are true gems, with distinct profiles that shine independently. As dedicated roasters, we believe it’s our responsibility to honor these coffees and the hard work of their producers by giving them the spotlight they deserve.

With this commitment in mind, we are proud to introduce our Single Origin category, a collection of coffees that will elevate your experience through their purity and individuality.

    Prepare to be surprised—and inspired.
